WAM is for Families
Bring the entire family to a free Family ArtVenture to view the galleries on a special tour, make art together led by an art instructor, watch a family movie, or meet an artist or two or three.
Engage with your preschool child at WAM's weekly Art Start with interactive art and gallery explorations.
The Wichita Art Museum is the perfect place for family outings and special moments with kids, aunts and uncles plus grandparents. The museum has ongoing programs through the year. In addition, there are special family activities planned at the annual Summer Birthday Bash and Ice Cream Social, the Friends' Holiday Open House, and Winter Art Mania.
Family ArtVenture: Ice-Tacular!
Saturday, January 25
10 am to 3 pm
It’s that time of year, when the weather is cold, the kids are antsy, and parents are restless. But WAM’s annual ice-themed Family ArtVenture is here to save us from the winter doldrums!
Join us for a day of 300-pound blocks of ice, local guest artists, food trucks, guest DJ, ice-themed films plus artmaking. Remember to dress for the outdoors, for this awesome Ice-Tacular event is both indoors and outdoors.
Art Start - Winter 2020
Art Start is a program for children ages 3 to 5 to engage with art, imagine, and learn together. Lessons are based on Kansas Early Childhood Learning Standards, National Core Arts Standards for Pre-K, and works of art in the Wichita Art Museum collection. The theme changes each month, so come back one session per month for a fresh take on the museum!
NOTE: Younger siblings are required to be in a front pack or stroller during the time in galleries.
